Welcome to Wishbone

ABOUT THE YARN, water & power:
Wishbone Yarns are dyed in small batches of ten to fifteen skeins. Please make sure that you purchase enough yarn for your project, as even repeatable colour ways differ from batch to batch. All raw yarn is sustainably sourced from non-mulesed, free range animals. All dyes used are Oeko-Tex certified.

All yarn is dyed with African rain water which we gather in large tanks in our garden.  South Africa is in the grips of a devastating drought cycle. I do all I possibly can to minimise the waste of water – dye baths are exhausted completely and the water is used over again. Wishbone yarns are washed with bio-degradable, organic Castile soap and rinsed until the water runs clear. This water is then used to sustain our small vegetable and salad garden.   However, certain deep colour ways go through a rich dyeing process that may cause some colour transfer onto the hands when knitting (this is called “crocking” ~ the same thing that happens with new dark blue jeans 🙂

As I care deeply about the environment and the footprint we leave, I am using recyclable, biodegradable packaging wherever possible. (The “cellophane” bags are made of bio-degradable wood cellulose)

Wishbone has been running entirely on solar power since March 2022 ♡

TERMS OF SERVICE

SHIPPING & PAYMENT:

Wishbone Yarn uses international door to door couriers (DHL) to deliver overseas parcels. Parcels arrive within one week and have comprehensive tracking throughout.

Please note that shipping is at own risk. If you would like to add shipping insurance, please contact me for a quote.

For orders larger than 5kg / 50 skeins, please contact me for a shipping quote.

Once an overseas order has been placed the customer becomes the importer and therefore takes ownership & liability for any import VAT & customs duties required. Also be aware that DHL raises their shipping costs by approximately 10% at the start of each year.

Important Notice for Customers in EU countries: as of 1 July 2021 the European Union has introduced a new Value-Added Tax, applicable to E-Commerce Sales. From this date onwards, VAT will be payable for imported goods. This VAT amount is the responsibility of the buyer ~ DHL delivery is not possible until the amount is settled.

To facilitate easier delivery, I will do my best to consolidate multiple orders ~ unless instructed otherwise by the buyer, but please bear in mind that I am not able to give partial refunds on shipping of double (triple, etc) orders. This is due to weight and volumetric restrictions, time constraints, PayPal transaction fees and currency conversion discrepancies.  Please don’t place more than one order if you don’t wish to pay a double shipping fee. There will be more yarn in the next update 🙂

Please double check your delivery address and telephone number before paying (and note that delivery is not possible to Post Office Boxes, only to street addresses)

It is possible to make changes to your delivery date / address once the parcel is on the DHL data base – please use the Waybill number provided once shipment has been processed.

I am able to send parcels almost anywhere in the world, but not all countries are on the site drop-down menu. Certain countries (Australia, New Zealand, South America, and since January 2023 also USA) have addresses that are deemed outlying or remote by DHL. This has a big impact on the shipping charges, but can often be avoided by having your parcel sent to someone in a nearby town or city.  If extra charges are applicable to your order, I will send these details via email and PayPal. If your country is not in the shipping menu, please contact me for a shipping quote to your area – I am happy to help.

Payment is via PayPal in USD. Unfortunately E-Cheques are not accepted.

EXCHANGES / REFUNDS / RETURNS POLICY:

Unfortunately – due to vast distances travelled by parcels – neither exchanges nor returns are possible after purchase. Kindly note that ALL SALES ARE FINAL and cannot be negotiated after an order has been placed and payment has been received.

CUSTOM ORDERS / WHOLESALE:

These options are not available at present. Wishbone Yarn is only available for sale at wishboneyarn.com during monthly shop updates.

South African customers: if you would like to purchase yarn at one of my updates, please contact me via email and I will try my best to help. We have moved to a rural area of the Great Karoo. Unfortunately studio visits are not possible, with no exceptions.
