Ninilchik
I was curious to see if my Wishbone Solo base and my Wishbone Flax Flower base marry well together in a garment. So I cast on a Ninilchik Swoncho by Caitlin Hunter, something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time….
After all, these bases come from the same mill and they are the same weight exactly. I’m so charmed by the added linen – it’s only 10% of the whole, but it lends a rusticity and a bit of gloss to the yarn. It softens as you knit and becomes really buttery.
I’m loving the result. It’s wip #… well, that’s not important. I chose, in the Flax Flower: “Crayola” as the base colour, the pale mushroomy pink is “Sugared Almonds” and in my 100% Merino Solo, I chose a skein of “Prima Vera” (I can’t keep up with this colour – as soon as I make it, it goes) and a new colour called “Rhaegal” – I’ve been binge-watching Game of Thrones. For winter is coming, and I’ll be well prepared.

Hi Lily! I see the original is made in DK. Are you making the larger size then?

Hi Adele, yes – it’s a bit of a gamble, but the gauge is almost correct… sadly, since I started my love affair with Brioche, I haven’t touched my swoncho!

thanks! Can’t wait to see it finished one day though!!

I just love the color combination I’m thinking I might like to do something like thatin what the fade sweater. The Faded sweater pattern is on Ravelry. What you have the same colors available and how much would it cost to duplicate them I’m not sure if your yardage. There is a slim chance that I might get to Stellenbosch within the year God willing. It would be so great to meet you and see your shop do you have one.
Best regards,
Barbara

Hi Barbara !
Thanks for your enquiry. I do have most of those colours in stock – just the PrimaVera is out at the moment, but I’ll be making more soon. If you click on “All Products” you can see the yarn that’s available, plus the yardage etc. I only have this online shop, though people do visit me at my studio in Fish Hoek. If you’re ever in the area, please pop in!
Warm wishes,
Lily
